Most people say “yes” much more readily than “no”.

“reference”. But, you‟ve just finished it after taking a whole day to work hard.
Many people say “yes” to these kinds of requests. They tend not to consider their own interests and feelings, and are often angry with themselves afterwards .
Saying “no” requires courage and considerable practice, in fact, according to psychologists .
“Everyone wants to be liked,” says Gabriele Steinki, a German psychologist. “Saying „no‟ risks losing the affection of the person asking the favor or even a job.”
The result is that many people say “yes” just for keeping the peace. But experts say this is regrettable . Anyone should have the right to say “no”.
In fact, rejecting a request can even help to strengthen a relationship because it expresses a true feeling.
But, for people Used to agreeing to every request, changing can be a long and uncomfortable learning process.
Most people believe that “If I say „no‟, I'll lose the affection of the person. But the affection is important to me.” This way of thinking can be replaced by this: “If he only likes me because I always do what suits him , then the price of his affection is too high in the long term.”
Steinki says the key is talking to the other person to find a mutual (相互的) solution. “One heeds to present the situation from one‟s own point of view, and to suggest how the situation can be dealt with to the advantage of both parties. The other person must have the feeling that his interests are being considered.”
When the refusal is not accepted, Steinki advises giving the reasons calmly again until the person gets the message .

(REUTERS/Jason Lee) Zhou Xiaochuan, governor of China‟s central bank, a high-level Chinese official on Sunday made the government‟s first admission that the country‟s economic slowdown was not going as planned. He told a meeting of regional leaders that his country‟s growth rate had tumbled \"a bit too much.\"
\"China's inflation is also declining, so we need to be very careful to see if the disinflation trend will continue, and if deflation will happen or not,\" said Zhou, His remarks were made at the Boao Forum for Asia, an annual conference on the island of Hainan in southern China. Zhou added that China could \"have room to act\" by taking \"quantitative measures\" and setting interest rates.
For many, the way he described China‟s health was no surprise. The country‟s economy has not been growing this slowly since the 1990s. Companies in debt are seeing sickly profit margins. Banks are carrying loads of debt, too, and the housing market is slowing. China‟s official 2015 GDP growth target is 7%, but that seems shaky.
Acknowledging that significant intervention has to be on the table is a big deal for China. Everyone has known for years that this slowdown was coming because the government is purposely transitioning its economy from one based on foreign investment to one based on domestic consumption. It is a brutal process, but the government knows it is the only way the country will become the self-sustaining superpower it wants to be.
(Barlcays)Until now, while the Chinese government had acknowledged the
slowdown was rough, it had assured the world that the situation was under control. Just a few weeks ago, Chinese officials were saying they would be monitoring deflation but still were not that keen on intervening with policy measures.
Now it seems they are warming to the idea. In January, China‟s headline consumer price inflation hit 0.8%, then it bounced back up to 1.4% in February. March probably isn‟t looking that great either from the People‟s Bank of China‟s point.
\"Widening PPI deflation and soft CPI inflation, especially after adjusting for seasonal effects, point to persistent deflation risks,\" Barclays wrote after February's number came out. \"In our view, the monetary policy needs to be more 'proactive' in order to deal with the cyclical challenges in the near term.\"
6. Which of the following illustrates “growth rate had tumbled” in Paragraph 1? A. setting interest rates B. economic transition C. bounce of CPI D. FIGURE 1
7. We can infer from the passage that one of the solutions to the slowdown could be _______ if needed.
A. monitoring deflation B. expanding foreign investment
C. making new policy measures D. reducing domestic consumption 8. Which of the following could be the best title for the passage? A. Zhou's admission is a big deal and a little bit irresponsible.
B. The Chinese government has admitted that things aren't going so well. C. China should be more active in its struggle against inflation. D. China's economy has been growing fast since the 1990s. 六. 任务型阅读(每个空格只填1个单词)
For years, you‟ve dreamed about hopping on a plane and disappearing into the horizon. You‟ve bought your ticket. You‟ve packed your bags. And your parents have finally built up the courage to let you go. Congratulations!
When you travel alone, the only person you need to think about is you. Taste the opportunity of complete freedom, and make your own route. There‟s nothing wrong with caring only about yourself and seeking out the opportunities you want to experience, as long as you respect others and their freedom to choose. When you travel with family or friends, you often play a certain role. It can be the irresponsible little brother, the spoiled sister, or the shy friend. Now all that can change. Who do you want to be? Step outside your comfort zone and try on a different role. Don‟t hide behind a mask or give into social expectations.
When you fail to plan, you have to suffer the consequences. You need to imagine different situations, and try to think of possible solutions to them. Of course, a perfect plan doesn‟t guarantee a smooth trip. Things happen on the road. That‟s life. Experiences teach you the delicate art of forward thinking.
You prove to yourself that you can take on new challenges and deal with problems as they arise. Yes, it‟s difficult and you will have to live with your mistakes. But better make mistakes than not to have lived at all. You learn to be kind and forgiving to yourself. After all, you‟ve got to like your own company. You learn to nurture and protect your confidence, because you know it‟s one of your most valuable assets.
Fear of heights. Fear of spiders. Fear of being alone and unloved. We‟ve brought some heavy luggage on board. I‟ve got good news and bad news. The good news: You‟re not alone with your fears. Others have them, too. It‟s what makes us vulnerable and human. Find comfort in this. The bad news: There‟s not a fast cure to overcome your fear. There‟s no pill to swallow. There‟s no app to download. The reward is worth the struggle. Your fears are stubborn and they will return. You must fight back every single time.
Traveling invites you to experience the unknown. To make the most of what the world has to offer, you better have an open mind. This is your key. Without it, you won‟t go far. The world is full of imagined barriers. You break them down by evaluating your own prejudice. You‟re quick to judge, but fortunately travel brings awareness to your ignorance.
When the luggage limit is low and your bag is full, you know it‟s time to say goodbye to a few things. This can be difficult at first, but after a while it becomes a welcoming routine. Besides, you can buy it again, if you have to. In the end, relationships and
memories matter most. You don‟t need souvenirs to live a rich life. Sure, less is more when you travel alone, but some things are hard to live without. Say your passport and money for example. These are your personal belongings and you need them. Observe your surroundings and be careful in large crowds and tourist areas.
You will build new relationships on your journey, even if you‟re shy. It doesn‟t take much. It can be a friendly smile, a helpful hand, or a shared fear. Indeed, nothing brings people closer than fear. It‟s tempting to check your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts when you‟re traveling. You don‟t want to miss what‟s right in front of you! Take the chance to get to know someone.
Things You will Learn About Traveling Alone Be (1) ____________ and play a different role Think only about yourself so long as you show respect for others.
