Objectives:
This course aims to develop students comprehensive listening ability, consolidate the basic language knowledge they have learnt, foster their interest in English listening and speaking, enlarge their vocabulary and expand their scope of knowledge. By using some other English listening materials in business conversations and basic business knowledge, etc. to supplement the textbook, this course is intended to expand students’ basic knowledge of business and improve their business English speaking skills in addition to laying a sound foundation in their general listening skills.
Course content:
Various forms of exercises from easy to difficult will be made use of, including
gap filling and form filling through listening, multiple choice questions and answering questions orally, to improve students’ listening skills step by step. The teaching in this semester will cover eleven units of the textbook, whose content include common dialogues in daily life and language communication, which will be focused on the choice of the key words, recording key points and generalization of main ideas. These will be supplemented with teacher-compiled business conversations and listening passages on relevant business topics such as business meetings, negotiation, enquiry, marketing and so on. Through the study, students are expected to achieve the following goals: to understand and imitate relatively long business conversations, to get acquainted with the characteristics of business conversations, to understand relatively long listening passages and grasp the gist, to repeat the business conversations they have heard and make comments on them, and to basically understand relatively-fast-speed telephone conversations, face-to-face dialogues, negotiations and conference speeches in general business activities.

6 教学目标与内容:
本课程全面培养学生的听力能力,巩固学生所学的基本语言知识,培养学生对英语听说的兴趣,增加词汇量,扩大知识面;结合课本练习,适当增加商务会话、商务基本知识等方面的听力材料,在打好学生听力基础的同时,增加学生商务方面的基本知识,加强学生的商务会话技巧。
本课程设置听录音填空、填表格、选择最佳答案、口头回答问题等多种练习模式,由易至难,逐步提高学生的听力技能。本学期共11个单元,以人们日常生活及语言交际中的常用话题为主要内容,侧重训练关键词的选择、要点记录和大意归纳等;老师将通过自编材料补充相关主题下的商务会会议、谈判、询价、营销等会话和短文听力材料。通过学习,学生能够听懂较长的商务对话,并进行模拟表演,掌握商业会话的特点;能听懂较长篇幅的理解性材料,抓住要点,进行内容复述或就相关内容发表个人观点;能基本听懂稍快语速的一般商务活动中的电话、对话、谈判、会议发言等。
