People tend to have poor sleep

Abstract:

With the development of our society and life standards, all of us were trapped by our increasing stress from works and other things. Everyone wants to live a life of fulfillment and passion. Sometimes it is easy to get stuck in a rut and boring life. Especially we have poor sleep whenever in the day or at night. This article mainly reflects the phenomenon and results of the insomnia. In order to avoid bad consequences, some effective methods are recommended.

Key words: Stress, poor sleep, methods.

Ⅰ. Introduction

With the pace of life speeding up and increasing competitive level day by day, more people feel the pressure from all sides .Generally speaking, we cannot adjust itself, thus showing physical or mental symptoms. It is including insomnia which is a relatively common disease. Early insomnia is not terrible, but if insomnia not got timely treatment would damage the physical and mental health seriously!

A large amount of bad effects will follow the poor sleep. Some will influence the work and study, even take your life .However, if you keep good habit and always remain good mood; you would get rid of it.

Ⅱ. More than half of the British people suffer from insomnia problem.

The survey found that 93 percent of adults lacked energy as a result of poor sleep. Of the 2,000 people surveyed, 20 percent dreamed more if they were under pressure or stressed.

“More than half of us are unable to get a good night’s rest.” say researchers following a major study.①

Sleep expert Professor Colin Espier, of the University of Glasgow and

co-founder of the organization Sleepier, has collated interviews with 12,000 adults in Britain’s largest study of sleep patterns.

Insomnia affects people’s quality of life during the day, not just their sleep at night.

“Living with poor sleep and its consequences is not only very common, but it is in all likelihood degrading Britain’s health.”①

From this research, the painful fact is that women suffer far more than men, with 75 percent reporting problems compared with 25 percent of men. But more women seemed to avoid any problems, with 21 percent regularly getting more than eight hours' sleep compared to just 14 percent of men.

Another survey of 3,000 adults found that 70 percent of people believe they don’t get enough sleep and 57 percent lie awake at night worried about work or money.

Persistent poor sleep elevates the risk of developing new illnesses. This has been shown in disorders such as diabetes, but also very convincingly in depression.

“The result is that one in ten check work emails, 6 percent wake up their partner if they can't sleep, 26 percent listen to soothing music and 18 percent believe having sex helps.”①

Insomnia problems not only influence people in British but also the people all over the world.

Ⅲ. How office politics dominates our shut-eye.

A quarter of those polled said they had a dream about a colleague if there was a conflict with them earlier that day.

Trying to leave work at the office is proving to be a challenge for many British workers, with research revealing that heavy workloads, conflicts and

bosses all make an appearance in dreams.

Work-related issues are the number one topic featuring in dreams, with colleagues creeping into shut-eye time more than celebrities.

According to the research “one in three dream about work when they are stressed in their job and a quarter stated that they dream about a colleague if there was a conflict with them earlier that day.”②

However, dreams often leave people confused, with 52 percent saying they do not make sense and 60 percent wishing they could know what they mean.

Commenting on the survey carried out by One Poll for Premier Inn hotels, dreams expert Davila Mack ail said: “This poll shows that whether we are asleep or awake a problem with a colleague or stress at work can really affect us.”②

Work is a huge part of everyday life and for the majority of British workers spend more time there than anywhere else, so it's not surprising that issues and tensions they have during the day are reflected in the types of dreams they are having.

It is really important to try to unwind after a hard day at work but that is easier said than done if something is playing on mind.

Ⅳ.Daily stress is leading to a rise in the potential nightmare of “sleep texting”.

The stress of daily life has sparked a new phenomenon - sleep texting. People with the rare condition send incoherent text messages while asleep to their friends and family - completely unaware that they are doing it.

Unsurprisingly, there are no studies into sleep texting - but a similar phenomenon, sleep emailing, was studied in 2008.

Researchers at the University of Toledo reported the case of a woman, 44, who would compose emails while sound asleep. She had no recollection of sending the emails when awake.

Cases of sleep emailing were more common, and were likely to have a more detrimental effect on the lives of sufferers.

Emails can be sent to work colleagues and have much more serious consequences, whereas text messages are more likely to be accidentally sent to a friend or family member, so people aren't as likely to complain of a problem.

Sleep texting as the result of people having too much to do during

waking life.

People are doing so much during a normal day that it can mean that

they feel like they're \"on call\" even at night.

“Because it's so easy to receive emails constantly, and get notifications

from smart phones, it becomes more difficult for us to separate our waking and sleeping lives.” a people surveyed said.③

People struggling to get a quality night's sleep should keep their

phones out of the bedroom.

The key point is that people need to respect their sleep, and make an

effort to switch off at night.

Ⅴ.Conclusion

From what have been mentioned above, the poor sleep tends common

in our daily life .People suffer much from insomnia and the workload. Insomnia can affect work, in turn; the heavy burden of work will also affect sleep quality.

Poor sleep can avoid by these five steps:

“Naked sleep: No matter how loose the pajamas, there will always tied you. Therefore, it is harmful to the body's natural relax.”④

Keep the body’s temperature: Falling asleep quickly have very close relations with the bed temperature .According to research, bed temperature from 32 ℃ to 34 ℃ is the best condition.

Reduce pressure: when you go to bed, the important thing for you is

thinking over the daylight’s things as less as possible.

Drink a cup of milk and honey before sleep:It can ease nervousness , promote sleep and help balance blood sugar all night, so as to avoid wake up early.

Choose the most suitable bed: Sleeping in a comfortable bed, the body parts of users can be balanced .It can also help them relax the body so that the sleep time will extend.

We should have a good sleep to ensure the normal and healthy life.
